Atletico Madrid – Valencia

Atletico Madrid welcomes Valencia in a game from the 9th round of the Spanish La Liga. Let’s take our attention to this fixture at the beautiful Wanda Metropolitano in the capital.

At this moment Atletico Madrid are third in the league standings with 15 points won, being one point behind the second Barcelona and just three behind the leader Real Madrid. Despite of winning just one of their last five games in the league, Cholo Simeone’s boys remain close to the top.

Since the transfer of Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona, Atleti are having some serious difficulties with scoring goals. In 8 games played in La Liga this season, Los Colchoneros have scored just 7 goals. Surely this effiency won’t be enough for Atletico to win the title and they know it pretty well.

Despite of signing players like Alvaro Morata and Joao Felix in the last 10 months, it looks like Atletico can’t find the proper way to replace a player like Griezmann. In their last league game Los Colchoneros visited Real Valladolid and only won a point after a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile Valencia are 8th in La Liga’s standings with 12 points won so far. We can say that right now Los Che are in a good shape, winning their last two games in La Liga against Athletic Bilbao and Deportivo Alaves.

Two weeks ago Valencia hosted Alaves at the Mestalla and enjoyed a 2-1 win. Maxi Gomez and Dani Parejo from a penalty scored for the hosts.

Valencia’s new manager Albert Celades had some problems since replacing Marcelino, but maybe now he’s starting to find the right path in the club’s dressing room.

It’d be curious to see if Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone can make his players start scoring a little bit more This Los Colchoneros’ biggest problem at the moment. It won’t be easy for them against Valencia, but they are playing at home, so they have some advantage.
