Barcelona – Eibar
The champion Barcelona hosts Eibar at the Camp Nou in a game from the 25th round of La Liga. This is another “must win situation” for the Catalans who are just one point behind the leader Real Madrid.
This is a good moment for Quique Setien’s team, because Barcelona are in a run of three consecutive wins in the league. We can say that Los Cules reacted well to their defeat against Valencia at the Mestalla. The gap between them and the leader Real Madrid is pretty small, so Barca will expect good news from Valencia where Levante will host Los Blancos.
Last week Barcelona also played at home. The Catalans hosted Getafe and it wasn’t easy, but they celebrated a 2-1 win. Antoine Griezmann and Sergi Roberto scored in the first half, securing important three points for the champion.
But there are some bad news for Quique Setien. The left back Jordi Alba got injured against Getafe, being replaced by Junior Firpo. Most likely Firpo will start against Eibar on Saturday. Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele remain injured, too.
Eibar need more points in order to feel more secure about their future. At this moment they are 16th in the league with 24 points, but only three points above the relegation zone. Eibar have won just one of their last five matches in the league.
Last week Eibar suffered their 11th loss in the league. Mendilibar’s team visited Deportivo Alaves at the Mendizorroza, but got defeated.
To be honest with you, we don’t expect any problems for Barcelona when they host Eibar on Saturday. For the Catalans it was not easy against Getafe last week, but Getafe are a much better team than Eibar as well. Lionel Messi have not scored in the last few games, so maybe it’s time for the Argentine to remind everyone who he is.
