Barcelona faces Espanyol

Barcelona faces Espanyol at the Camp Nou in the Catalan derby of La Liga. We are going to spend a few minutes to take a look at this clash which is always creating some huge interest among the fans.

Most likely Barcelona will finish at second place in La Liga this season, losing their title to Real Madrid. Jus four rounds before the end Barca are four points behind Los Blancos. At the same time Madrid are perfect in their performance and it doesn’t look like they are going to miss this opportunity.

On Sunday Barcelona played a great game and beat Villarreal with 4-1 away from home. Lionel Messi did two assists, while Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Ansu Fati scored. Pau Lopez scored himself an own goal as well.

Quique Setien brought back Antoine Griezmann in the starting eleven against Villarreal, while Ricky Puig and Ansu Fati entered the pitch from the bench. Setien has some options for the next game, so it’d be interesting to see what kind of a line-up he’s going to pick.

Espanyol are saying goodbye to La Liga. Los Perricos are 20th in the league with 24 points, being 11 points behind the 17th Celta. In their last five games in La Liga the Catalans suffered five losses, which explains why they are in such a situation at the moment. This campaign was truly terrible for Espanyol.

On Sunday Espanyol hosted Leganes at the RCDE Stadium, but a goal from Jonathan Silva secured the win for the visitors. The Catalan club is already starting to think about the forthcoming season in Segunda.

We don’t have any doubts that Barcelona will beat Espanyol on Wednesday. The visitors are just terrible at the moment, so Los Cules should get the three points without much of an effort here.
