Barcelona – Juventus

Barcelona hosts Juventus at the Camp Nou in a game from Group G of the Champions League. This is the biggest match of the night, so let’s try to preview it.

Barcelona are very close to winning this group. The Catalans are leaders with a perfect record from 15 points won from five matches played. They have three points advantage in front of Juve, so even a draw at the Camp Nou would be enough for them to take the first place.

These two teams already met once in this group. This happened in October when Ronald Koeman’s team achieved a 2-0 win at the Allianz Stadium. Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi scored for the visitors from penalty kicks.

The big difference now is the return of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star missed the first game in Turin because he tested positive for COVID-19. Now the Champions League all time goalscorer will once again face his biggest rival Lionel Messi on the pitch.

Barcelona’s newest problem is the injury of Ousmane Dembele. The French winger is missing the game because of a hamstring problem. Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Ansu Fati are sidelined with injuries, too.

Juventus prepared for this visit to Barcelona with a very difficult, but important 2-1 win against Torino in the Serie A. Andrea Pirlo’s team was losing the game until the 77th minute, but the Bianconeri turned it around with goals from Weston McKennie and Leonardo Bonucci.

Juve are still not reaching their peak under the management of Andrea Pirlo, but maybe this will happen soon.
