Bayern Munich hosts Schalke 04 at the Allianz Arena in a derby game from the 19th round of the Bundesliga.

After winning four consecutive games in the league, Bayern Munich are now second in the league with 36 points, but still on 4 points behind the current leader RB Leipzig. The title race in the Bundesliga looks intense this season, so we expect a close fight until the end. And you can be sure that Bayern will be one of the contenders for the gold medals.

Last week the Bavarians won for a fourth consecutive time. The champions visited Hertha BSC in the capital Berlin and went home with a spectacular 4-0 win at the Olympiastadion. All of Bayern’s four goals were scored after the halftime break. Thomas Muller opened the score for the visitors, while Robert Lewandowski doubled their lead from a penalty kick. Thiago and Ivan Perisic finished the job with two more goals.

Against Schalke 04 Bayern Munich will be without the services of Niklas Sule, Javi Martinez, Lucas Hernandez and Kingsley Coman, who are all injured.

Schalke 04 are fighting for a Top 4 finish this season and a return to the Champions League. At this moment the Royal Blues are 5th in the league with 33 points, but with the same amount of points as the 4th Borussia Dortmund. The arrival of the manager David Wagner surely improved Schalke after some really dissapointing season.

In the previous round Schalke 04 faced a tough opponent in the face of Borussia M’gladbach, but they managed to clinch a 2-0 win at home. Suat Serdar opened the score for the hosts, while Michael Gregoritsch doubled their lead.

David Wagner has some problems before the derby in Munich, too. The American tactician can’t use the suspended Alexander Nubel, while Benjamin Stambouli, Benito Raman and Salif Sane are all injured.

Can Schalke 04 hurt Bayern Munich at their own Allianz Arena in the Bavarian capital? Surely it’s not an easy task, but they have some weapons they are ready to use.
