Cagliari – Inter

After winning their first game for the season in a spectacular fashion, Inter Milan are travelling to Sardinia to face Cagliari in a game from the second round of the Serie A.

Antonio Conte’s debut as manager of Inter went very good. The Nerazzurri hosted Lecce at the Stadio San Siro and enjoyed themselves, winning the game with 4-0. The summer signings Romelu Lukaku and Stefano Sensi scored their first goals for the club, while Marcelo Brozovic and Antonio Candreva also put the ball behind Gabriel’s back. This is exactly what Inter’s fans wanted to see from Conte and his boys – passion, excitement and many goals. Could this be the Nerazzurri’s year? We shall see.

The truth is that Inter suffered a lot in the last few years, being far from this club’s greatness from the era of Jose Mourinho. Signing Antonio Conte as a manager was a bold statement from the club, because the Juventus legend is arguably one of the best coaches in the world.

Cagliari on the other hand started the new campaign in the Serie A with a defeat. The Rossoblu hosted the newcomer Brescia and suffered a 0-1 loss at the Sardegna Arena. Alfredo Donnarumma scored the only goal in the game from a penalty kick, while Cagliari’s efforts in attack didn’t lead to anything. Radja Nainggolan’s second debut didn’t help the hosts, neither Alberto Cerri and Lucas Castro who entered the pitch after the halftime break.

Inter made a serious statement in the first round, but now Conte’s boys must try to do the same far from the fortress San Siro. It’s always more difficult to play on away ground, but if the Nerazzurri want to fight for the title, they must win almost every game they play. As for Cagliari, soon or later they must start winning points as well.
