Hoffenheim – Mainz

Hoffenheim hosts Mainz 05 in a match from the 12th round of the German Bundesliga. Let’s see what’s the situation with these two teams at the moment.

Hoffenheim are now 5th in the Bundesliga after recording five consecutive wins. At this moment Hoffe are the team in the best current shape in the league. The team had a slow start of the campaign, but now they are doing pretty well in order to compensate.

Before the break Hoffenheim achieved their 6th win in the league and 5th consecutive. Alfred Schreuder’s team visited Koln and had the luck to win with a goal in the 98th minute. This is when Jurgen Locadia scored a penalty kick and secured a 2-1 win for Hoffe. Before this Cordoba opened the score for Koln, but Sargis Adamyan equalised for the visitors.

Hoffenheim are really close to returning to Top 4 of the German league. At this moment they are just one point behind three of the teams among the first four – RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Freiburg. The next game is a great chance for them to enter the Top 4 for a first time this season.

Mainz 05 are having trouble again. They are not doing so great at the moment, being 16th with 9 points won. Their record in the league so far is 3 wins and 8 defeats, no draws just yet.

In the previous round Mainz had a good chance to achieve a win, but they suffered a home defeat against one of the rivals in the survival fight Union Berlin. Karim Onisiwo and Daniel Brosinski scored for the hosts, but before this Union had scored three times.

Against Hoffenheim Mainz 05 will be without the injured Stefan Bell, Ji Dong-Won and Jean Mateta.

We don’t have any doubts that Hoffenheim are huge, huge favourite against struggling Mainz 05, especially at home. In a run of five consecutive wins, Hoffe look scary at the moment. We can’t say the same about the visitors, though.
