Leipzig – PSG
RB Leipzig will try to continue with their Champions League fairytale when they face PSG in the first 1/2-final from the competition on Tuesday. These two clubs will go toe to toe at the Estadio da Luz in Lisboa. Let’s take a look.
Nobody really believed that what RB Leipzig have done so far was possible. The German club reached the Champions League 1/2-finals for a first time in its history. On Thurdsay the Red Bulls won against Atletico Madrid in Lisboa and eliminated the Spanish giants. The 2-1 win was enough for Julian Nagelsmann’s team to move just one step away from the final.
It’s impressive that Nagelsmann is just 33-years old, but surely he’s the manager everyone is talking about at the moment. Nagelsmann engineered RB Leipzig’s success and he deserves respect for this.
The Spanish winger Dani Olmo opened the score for RB Leipzig against Atletico, while Joao Felix equalised from the spot. The dramatic conclusion came in the 88th minute of the game. Tyler Adams’ shot was deflected and the ball became uncatchable for Jan Oblak. Leipzig celebrated their second goal and their progression to the 1/2-finals.
PSG will also fight for a first qualification for the Champions League final in the club’s history. Thomas Tuchel’s team played an incredibly dramatic game against Atalanta at the 1/2-finals. The Italian team had a lead unti the final minutes of the game, but PSG turned it around. Marquinhos equalised, while Choupo-Moting scored the winner. The two big stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe shined in this difficult moment and made assists for the two goals.
It’d be a true sensation if RB Leipzig reach the Champions League final, but they have a huge challenge ahead of them. PSG are one of the strongest teams in Europe and they are aware how close they are to the final. The question is – which one of these two teams will make the big step?
