Netherlands – Estonia
Netherlands welcomes Estonia in Amsterdam in a game from Group C of the European qualifiers. This is a match from the last round of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign. We are going to take a look at what’s happening in this group at the moment.
On Saturday Netherlands lost the first place in Group C after a 0-0 draw in Belfast during the visit to Northern Ireland. Because of this draw, Germany managed to overtake the Dutch team. Right now the Mannschaft is leading the table with 18 points, while Netherlands are second with 16.
The only way for Oranje to come back at first place is Germany to make a mistake at home against Northern Ireland, while Ronald Koeman’s team wins against Estonia. But most likely Koeman’s boys will finish second in the group.
It was a dissapointing result for Netherlands at the Windsor Park. The Dutch manager Ronald Koeman chose a 4-2-3-1 formation for this game with Ryan Babel on top of the attack, while Quincy Promes, Donny van de Beek and Steven Berghuis were supporting from second line. After the break Koeman put Luuk de Jong, Davy Propper and Nathan Ake on the pitch, but it didn’t change anything.
Of course, it’s not a big deal that Netherlands won’t win this group, they are still going to qualify for the next European championship.
In the same time Estonia are at the bottom of the group standings with just one point won so far. One draw and six losses – this is their record since the beginning of the qualifying campaign.
In their last game in the group Estonia hosted Germany in Tallinn, but suffered a 0-3 defeat.
Our conclusion is pretty clear – Netherlands won’t make a mistake against Estonia on Tuesday. The Dutch side will finish its qualifying campaign with a win and a good performance for the home fans.
