PSG – Borussia Dortmund
PSG are one goal behind against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League 1/8-finals, but they are still in a good position to progress to the next phase of the competition. The first game between these two teams in Dortmund ended with a 2-1 win for the Germans, but now PSG will have the chance to answer at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
Neymar scored a very important goal for PSG at the Signal Iduna Park, but the Norwegian phenomenon Erling Haland put the French champions behind with a spectacular brace. Of course, PSG’s situation is not as bad as some might think – they are just one goal behind and even a 1-0 win in Paris will allow them to qualify for the 1/4-finals.
It’s up now to the manager Thomas Tuchel to master a plan for beating Borussia Dortmund. PSG must be wary of Der Borussen’s offensive potential, because players like Erling Haland, Jadon Sancho and Thorgan Hazard could really hurt them. What PSG can offer in attack is also impressive, though – players like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani can put them above any team in Europe.
PSG didn’t have a game during the weekend, so now Tuchel’s team will be a little bit more fresh than their opponent. Will this help them on Wednesday? We shall see.
Borussia Dortmund on the other hand prepared for PSG with a 2-1 win against one of Bundesliga’s strongest teams – Borussia M’gladbach. Erling Haland didn’t score this time, but Thorgan Hazarda and Achraf Hakimi did the job. Haland made an assist for the first goal, though.
In conclusion we can say that we expect a pretty nice spectacle between PSG and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. The French team have the home ground advantage in Paris, but Dortmund are the team which have an advantage in the result.
