Real Madrid – Borussia M’gladbach
The 13 times European champions Real Madrid will look for their first points in the Champions League this season. On Tuesday Los Blancos will travel to Germany to face Borussia M’gladbach at the Borussia-Park.
Real Madrid shockingly lost their first match in the Champions League for the 2020/21 season. Zinedine Zidane’s team hosted Shakhtar Donetsk at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, but conceded a 2-3 defeat against the Ukrainians. Nobody really expected such a result from Real Madrid.
During the weekend Real Madrid returned to their best form in the El Classico against Barcelona. Los Blancos won at the Camp Nou with 3-1 and put their biggest rivals to their knees. It was a breath of fresh air for the manager Zidane who was heavily critisized for recent results. Federico Valverde, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric scored for the La Liga champions.
Zidane could be making some changes for Real Madrid’s second Champions League game. Most likely Nacho will be missing the match because of the injury he suffered in the El Classico against Barca.
Borussia M’gladbach started well their Champions League season. The Germans had a difficult visit to Inter Milan at the San Siro, but went home with a point after a 2-2 draw. Goals from Rami Bensebaini and Jonas Hofmann put M’gladbach really close to winning, but the Nerazzurri scored a late equaliser in the 90th minute.
Borussia M’gladbach missed the opportunity to win against Inter Milan, but the manager Marco Rose was satisfied with his team’s performance. It’s never easy to win a point at the San Siro.
That’s our preview for the Champions League match between Borussia M’gladbach and Real Madrid at the Borussia-Park. The Spanish giants are looking for their first win in the competition, but historically they do not play very well in Germany. Let’s see if this is going to be the case now.
