Sevilla – Getafe
After enjoying a win in Europa League’s group stage during the week, Sevilla are hosting Getafe at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in a match from the 10th round of La Liga. This is a good time to take a look at this clash in the beautiful Andalusia on Sunday.
At certain moment Sevilla were leading the La Liga standings, but now they are 6th in the table with 16 points won. Of course, the first six teams are very close to each other, so there’s no reason for panic in Los Rojiblancos’ dressing room. The leader Barcelona is just 3 points away.
The problem for Sevilla and their manager Julen Lopetegui is the team’s inconsistence. In their last five matches in La Liga, Sevilla won twice, but also suffered three losses.
Last weekend Sevilla secured their fifth win for the season. Los Rojiblancos hosted Levante at the Sanchez Pizjuan, enjoying a 1-0 win. The hosts’ winning goal was scored just four minutes before the final whistle, when Luuk de Jong executed a perfect assist from Jesus Navas.
During the week Sevilla faced Luxembourg’s F91 Dudelange in Europa League, achieving a comfortable 3-0 win. The Argentine midfielder Franco Vasquez scored a brace for Lopetegui’s team.
Getafe also had a game in Europa League’s group stage during the week. Jose Bordalas’ boys hosted Basel at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, but suffered a 0-1 defeat.
In La Liga Getafe won their last two matches, which helped them to climb up to 9th place in the standings with 13 points won. Last weekend they hosted Leganes at home and enjoyed a 2-0 win, thanks to the two goals of Angel.
Sevilla are most certainly favourites against Getafe at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but winning their last two games in the league, the visitors will approach this fixture with high confidence. Be careful about that.
