Shakhtar Donetsk – Roma

Shakhtar Donetsk hosts Roma in another match from the 1/8-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Let’s have a look at this clash in the city of Kharkiv.

Shakhtar reached the 1/8-finals of the Champions League after finishing second in Group F in the company of Manchester City, Napoli and Feyenoord. Before the first game everyone thought that Manchester City and Napoli will be the two clubs who will advance to the next phase of the competition. But things went very wrong for the Italian club, because Shakhtar managed to take the second place.

Something more – Shakhtar won the second place after beating both Napoli and Manchester City at home in Kharkiv. This is something which shall make Roma incredibly careful before this game on Ukrainian soil.

Roma on the other hand surprised a lot of people, winning Group C of the Champions League. The draw sent the Wolves in the company of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Qarabag, which was a reallly difficult situation for the Italian team. But Roma showed a great performance, lost only one game and won the group with 11 points. They finished with the same amount of points as Chelsea, but their better stats allowed them to finish first.

It’s always difficult to play in Ukraine. It’s a big trip, the weather is cold and it’s not easy for the visiting teams. For Roma it won’t be an exception. Of course, Roma are favourites here, because of their status as one of the best Italian teams. But we could have said the same thing about Napoli and they had a lot of difficulties against Shakthar.

It’s safe to say that this clash is really unpredictable. If Shakhtar manage to take a positive result before the second leg, it’s going to be difficult for Roma.
