Tottenham – Fulham
Tottenham Hotspur welcomes Fulham in a game from the second round of the English Premier League.
An usual contender for the Top 4, Tottenham started the new season with a win. Mauricio Pochettino’s boys celebrated a tough, but an important 2-1 win over Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park. Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli scored the two goals for the visiting team, while Joselu scored the only goal for the Magpies.
Tottenham didn’t sign anyone during the summer transfer market, which was a strange decision by the Spurs. In same time they kept all of their stars as well, which was good for Pochettino. But can this inactivity on the transfer market cause the team some problems this season? It’s always dangerous when you decide not to strenghten your team.
Fulham returned to the Premier League after a spell in the Championship. The Cottagers started the new season with a loss, though. Slavisa Jokanovic’ team suffered a dissapointing 0-2 defeat at home against Crystal Palace. Fulham’s main goal this season is going to be survival, so they really need to take as much points as possible when playing at home. Well, it didn’t happen against Palace in the previous round.
Against Fulham Tottenham could be without Victor Wanyama, Erik Lamela and Lucas, who are doubtful for the game with injuries. Harry Winks is back to training though, being recovered from his latest injury.
Fulham can’t use Alfie Mawson and Denis Odoi, while Floyd Ayite and Andre Zambo Anguissa will have a late fitness test before the next game.
Tottenham are the strong favourite against Fulham, of course. Spurs are contenders for a Top 4 place and they won’t make many mistakes at home, especially against teams like Fulham. If Cottagers win something from this game, it’s going to be a massive success for them.
