Ukraine hosts Spain

Ukraine hosts Spain in Kiev in a game from League A’s Group 4 of the Nations League. This is a fine moment to discuss this fixture with you. Let’s get to work!

Spain are the current leaders in the group. La Roja are leading the standings with 7 points won from three matches played. They started their campaign with a draw against Germany, but in the next two games they achieved wins over Ukraine and Switzerland. Luis Enrique’s team is moving well at the moment – they are showing a good shape.

On Saturday Spain recorded their second win in the group. Enrique’s boys hosted Switzerland in the capital and it was not really easy, but they secured a 1-0 win. Real Sociedad’s striker Mikel Oyarzabal scored the only goal after an assist from his teammate in La Real Mikel Merino. Until the end of the game Spain tried to score at least one more, but they didn’t have enough luck to do it.

Ukraine lost the second place in the group after suffering a 1-2 defeat against Germany on home soil. After this defeat Andriy Shevchenko’s team is now third in the league with 3 points – two less than the second Germany.

Ukraine did their best against the Mannschaft, but they only scored once. Ruslan Malinovskyi executed a penalty kick in the 76th minute, but before this the Germans had scored twice.

Maybe Andriy Shevchenko would make some changes for Ukraine’s next game. Players like Zubkov, Marlos and Shaparenko could be in contention to start against La Roja.

This is our preview for the Nations League fixture between Ukraine and Spain on Tuesday. The visitors are favourites to win this group at the moment, but they would need another win here to stay at top. At the same time Ukraine would like to avoid losing a third consecutive match.
