Werder Bremen hosts Borussia M’gladbach
Feeling inspired after their win on Saturday, Werder Bremen hosts Borussia M’gladbach at the Weserstadion in a match from the 28th round of the Bundesliga.
Werder ressurected their hopes of survival on Saturday when they achieved a precious 1-0 win during the visit to Freiburg. This was the club’s just 5th win since the beginning of the season. Leo Bittencourt scored the only goal in the game in the 19th minute, when he used an assist from Dutch teammate Davy Klaassen.
Werder Bremen finished this game with ten men as well because of Philipp Bargfrede’s red card in the 88th minute. He won’t be avaliable to face M’gladbach on Tuesday.
After this win Werder Bremen remain in the relegation zone, but now the club is with 21 points – only two points behind the 16th Fortuna Dusseldorf. Hopes for survival are finally here again.
Borussia M’gladbach on the other hand lost their place in the Top 4. On Saturday M’gladbach suffered a 1-3 defeat at home against Bayer Leverkusen, which made them fall to 5th place in the standings. Now is the moment for Borussia to show their qualities again and eventually return in the Top 4.
It was not a good game for Borussia M’gladbach against Bayer Leverkusen, obviously. Marcus Thuram scored for M’gladbach in the beginning of the second half, but this goal didn’t change anything really. The team’s manager Marco Rose has to make some adjustments here, because his players’ performance against Leverkusen was simply not good enough.
Against Werder Borussia M’gladbach still can’t use the injured Fabian Johnson and Denis Zakaria, while Werder are without the sidelined Claudio Pizarro, Niclas Fullkrug, Kevin Mohwald and Ludwig Augustinsson.
In conclusion we can say that despite of these two teams’ results in the previous round, Borussia M’gladbach are still favourites to win against Werder Bremen. Will we get a surprise, though?
